Inhibition Of Α-Amylase Enzyme With Extract And Fraction Of Zingiber Zerumbet Rhizome

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang banyak menyerang masyarakat saat ini. Penyakit ini ditandai dengan kadar glukosa darah yang lebih tinggi dari biasanya. Inhibitor α-amilase memperlambat tahap akhir pencernaan karbohidrat dan mencegah glukosa memasuki aliran darah. Inhibitor α-amilase herbal alami menjadi semakin penting dalam pengobatan diabetes karena kemanjurannya dengan efek samping yang lebih sedikit Zingiber zerumbet merupakan salah satu jenis zingiber yang sering digunakan. Inhibisi α-amilase dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas penghambatan ekstrak dan fraksi rimpang lempuyang terhadap enzim α-amilase. Pengujian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DNS. Ekstrak rimpang lempuyang mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, fenolik, tannin, dan terpenoid. Fraksi heksan hanya mengandung terpenoid. Fraksi etil asetat mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan triterpenoid. Fraksi butanol mengandung alkaloid, fenolik, tanin dan flavonoid sedangkan fraksi air mengandung fenolik dan alkaloid. Hasil penelitian diperoleh %inhibisi pada ekstrak, fraksi heksan, fraksi etil asetat, fraksi butanol dan fraksi air masing-masing sebesar 72,15%; 81,96%; 86,47%; 77,81%, dan 80,52%.
